“Cowboy” Cerrone Looks To Rebound vs. Veteran Yves Edwards In May

The new show “UFC Tonight” continues to be a must watch for breaking news as a bout between exciting lightweights Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Yves Edwards was announced for a UFC on Fuel card taking place on May 15
th.
Cerrone (17-4-0) was viewed as perhaps the next challenger to the lightweight throne until a non-stop barrage of punches for three rounds from Nate Diaz at UFC 141 led to a unanimous decision loss and a halt to his six fight win streak. The ultimate thrill seeker, “Cowboy” perhaps took on too heavy of a work load, as the loss to Diaz was his fifth of 2011 and his sixth fight in just over a year.
Yves Edwards (41-18-1) also looks to rebound from a unanimous decision loss last December, although his came in a much more controversial fashion against “TUF” winner Tony Ferguson at The Ultimate Fighter 14 finale. Coming back from a dire first round in which the “Thugjitsu” master was almost finished, Edwards landed a variation of strikes that seemed to stymie the younger Ferguson in rounds two and three, who winged hard shots but struggled to find the shifty Edwards. In the end, the dominant first round and aggressiveness was enough to earn Ferguson the decision. Edwards, just 1-2 in his last three fights, may need a win to stay in the UFC’s talented lightweight division.
UFC on Fuel 3 takes place May 15th, 2012 at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia.
